Theater Bartlesville is busy setting the stage for our upcoming production of the Broadway musical, You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown, which opens February 5, 2016. The six member principal cast and youth chorus has been chosen by Show Director, Kimberly Wright, and Musical Director, Marcia Hansen.
The cast of local young adult actors features Troy Martin as "Charlie Brown", Miriam Trudeau as "Sally", and Kyla Radaker as "Lucy”. The role of "Schroeder" will be played by Jordan Gentges, "Linus” will be played by Benedict Trudeau and the loveable “Snoopy” will be portrayed Joseph Trudeau. Chorus members include: Stephen Berg, Havilah Goodenough, Avery Gore, Kirsten Manuel, Samantha Sequichie, Molly Sparks, Hannah Suarez, Landry Evans, Samantha Bailey Willis and Lydia Gentges.
In the story of You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown, the sweet, tuneful simplicity of Clark Gesner’s songs and the wry wit of the Charles Schultz vignettes come together to form the spine of the show. The show is amazing with cute and funny songs like “The Kite” and “The Book Report,” to touching and sweet songs like “The Baseball Game” and “Happiness.” Of all the musical shows out there, only a few hold the emotional pull of You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown. According to Clark Gesner, “none of the cast is actually six years old and they don’t really look like the Charles Schultz “Peanuts” characters, but this doesn’t seem to make that much difference. Once we are into the play, what they are saying to each other is delivered with the openness of early childhood which communicates to the audience the obvious fact that they are all really quite “fond” of each other.
First time Director Kimberly Wright is very excited about making her directorial debut with this loveable musical. According to Kimberly, “I grew up enjoying these timeless characters with my family on both paper and screen, and I am honored and excited to bring them to life on stage to share with your family. Keeping this show fresh and relevant while still holding true to the "Peanuts" nostalgia is a unique and fun challenge for all of us. After 18 years of honing my craft as an actress at Theater Bartlesville, I am looking forward to flexing my creative muscles from the OTHER SIDE of the stage.”
Fun, laughter and sincerity build the mood. You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown should have a place in everyone’s heart!
