deadCENTER Film Festival Coming to Bartlesville

The deadCENTER Film Festival will visit Theater Bartlesville (312 S Dewey Ave.) for a one-day festival this Wednesday, October 1st, from 4 pm – 10 pm. All activities are free and open to the public.

DCFF is Oklahoma’s largest film festival, recognized as one of the “Top 20 Coolest Film Festivals in the World” according to MovieMaker magazine.

“The deadCENTER Film Festival is in its 15th year of bringing quality independent films from around the world to Oklahoma and providing Oklahoma filmmakers with a nationally recognized platform to share their work,” said Lance McDaniel, executive director for deadCENTER Film Festival. “Bartlesville has been host to several significant film productions over the past few years, and we’re thrilled to have the opportunity to highlight some of deadCENTER’s best films there.”

The one-day festival will include a community workshop, and two screenings. Attendees are encouraged to register for their free tickets at www.theaterbartlesville.com.

The workshop will walk attendees through the filmmaking process, using the Chris Kattan-starring “Crazy Enough” as a case study. It will be taught by McDaniel and Kim Haywood, deadCENTER Director of Programming, will walk attendees through the filmmaking process. The workshop will run 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

The first of two screenings, “Light from the Darkroom,” will begin at 6:00 pm. The film, directed by Lance McDaniel, follows two best friends whose faith is tested when their friends disappear during a religious pilgrimage. “Light from the Darkroom” features local Rosie Swindell as Señora Delgado.

The second screening is “Beauty is Embarrassing,” by Moore, Oklahoma filmmaker Neil Berkeley, will start at 8:00 p.m. Winner of Best Documentary in 2012 and a PBS Independent Lens selection, this funny, irreverent and inspiring documentary chronicles one of America's most important artists, Wayne White as he makes every day a chance to create.
